Why Sweet Wine Deserves Better
Welcome to The Sweet Wine Section — a blog for the people who’ve been told their taste in wine is “too sweet.” The Moscato lovers, Riesling ride-or-dies, anyone who wants their wine to taste like fruit instead of oak and leather. The wine world has spent years treating sweet wine drinkers like they don’t belong — like your palate isn’t “refined enough” or you’ll “grow out of it eventually.” Sweet wine isn’t lesser. It’s not a phase. It’s valid, it’s joyful, and it’s got its own loyal fanbase that deserves better options and way more respect.
I’m here to spotlight the bottles, the brands, and the experiences that actually speak to that. I work in the wine industry, including judging wine professionally, and I’ve seen sweet wine get dismissed over and over, not because it’s bad, but because no one ever bothered to take it seriously. This blog exists to change that.
2Meet Idapeach
There’s no better place to start than with the bottle that’s been breaking all the rules and winning hearts (and awards) along the way: Idapeach Sangria. This delicious peach wine is made by Holesinsky Winery in Buhl, Idaho and has been doing the most (in the best way). Idapeach isn’t dry. It’s not fancy. It doesn’t come with tasting notes that sound like a candle. It’s peachy, juicy, comes in a pouch, and still wins gold medals.
In other words, it’s not what wine is supposed to be…and that’s why it works.
Chardonnay + Real Peaches = A Whole Moment

- The main grape: Beautifully crisp Chardonnay.
- The flavor: Juicy, real Idaho peaches mixed in.
- The vibe: Party-ready. Festival-approved. Lifestyle adaptable.
It comes in just about every form you can think of — a classic still wine ($14 retail), a red version ($16 retail), a sparkling version ($18 retail), as a seltzer ($7 retail), and in pouch form (aka Adult Capri Suns — you’re welcome).
This Sweet Wine Does It All

The Idapeach Seltzer is my go-to when I want something light and juicy. I always drink it with a chamoy and Tajín rim. That salty, tangy kick with the sweet, peachy bubbles is everything. It’s basically a backyard party in a glass. But honestly, Idapeach is a total chameleon. You can turn it into wine slushies, make it into mulled wine in the winter, or pour red wine over it to create a beautiful sunset wine cocktail called Idapeach Float. This thing does it all. It’s my first recommendation for a reason: it’s not just “good for a sweet wine”. It’s legitimately special. A perfect little Idaho peach moment that fits into whatever vibe you’re chasing.
the Label Is That Girl

And UM, let’s talk about the label! The label features a badass cartoon girl riding the state of Idaho like a cowboy. She’s in pigtails, daisy duke shorts, cowboy boots, and a crop top, proudly holding two giant peaches right where her boobs would be. This fun label pays tribute to a cancer survivor who inspired the design. She’s cute, campy, iconic, and controversial depending on who you ask.
Award-Winning Sweet Wine That’s Easy to Find

Oh, and in case you think I’m just hyping it up: Idapeach wins Platinum every single year at the Great Northwest Wine Platinum Awards. It’s not only delicious — it’s well made. And the best part? You can find it at Albertsons, small shops across Idaho, Holesinsky’s tasting room, and online.
Sweet Wine Doesn’t Need to Prove Anything

If anyone’s ever made you feel like sweet wine doesn’t count — let Idapeach be your reminder that it absolutely does. It’s fun, it’s award-winning, and it doesn’t need to prove anything.
Sweet wine deserves a little more love — and so do the people who drink it.
More bottles, more recs, and more unapologetically sweet moments coming soon. 🍷💬
